PLANT CITY - The Wolves running game proved too much for Plant City (1-3) as Newsome (1-2) running backs Conner Powers and Darnell Tucker each had more than 120-yards rushing. The two combined to carry the ball 29 times for 243 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

In the opening quarter Newsome scored on its first possession on a 40-yard pass from Matt Klenke to Niko Anthony.

The Raiders, however, responded on the next drive with a 41-yard scoring run by Dazmond Patterson. Patterson was solid for the Raiders rushing for 122 yards.

In the second quarter, the Wolves took the lead on a 3-yard scoring run by Powers to give Newsome a 14-7 halftime lead.

Newsome put the game away with a pair of scores on its first two possessions of the fourth quarter. The first came on a 1-yard run by Tucker and the second on a 40-yard run by Powers. Powers finished with 121 yards on the ground including his long touchdown run, breaking through the middle and outrunning two Raiders' defenders.

"When you run you can't look back behind you," Powers said. "Just keep your head down and go."
