RIVERVIEW - Phillip Ely ran in one touchdown and threw for two others, leading Plant to a rout of Riverview.
Ely ran in from 15 yards in the first quarter for his first score, then three minutes later, threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Turhan Glover, increasing the lead to 14-0.
During the first half, Plant had four consecutive possessions of three, three, four and five plays. The Panthers scored touchdowns on each of those possessions.
Glover ran in a 23-yard touchdown and Ely hit Eric Dungy on a 19-yard scoring pass in the second quarter.
The final touchdown as time expired in the third quarter came on an Antonio Crawford run of 48 yards.
Riverview gained only 19 first-half yards and 66 on the night. The Sharks' best scoring attempts were negated by penalties. Jamal Stewart ran back a 55-yard interception for an apparent touchdown until a roughing-the-passer penalty erased that score. Later in the game, Sharks receiver Barry Thomas made an acrobatic catch that caused two Panthers to be injured while trying to defend him. It, too, was brought back because of a penalty - an illegal shift.
