NEW PORT RICHEY - Sunlake (1-3) exploded in the second half on the legs of sophomore tailback Rashaud Daniels to stun unbeaten Gulf (3-1) in a 3A-7 game at Des Little Stadium.
Daniels rushed for 164 yards on 25 carries with four touchdowns, and he had 133 yards in the second half.
After a sluggish first quarter, Gulf struck first when Madison Burr found David Ramirez for a 27-yard score and a 6-0 lead. The Seahawks tied it right before halftime when they recovered a Gulf fumble inside the 10-yard line. Three plays later, Daniels scored from 1 yard out to make it 6-6.
Daniels and the Seahawks' offensive line took over in the third quarter. Daniels scored on both of Sunlake's third-quarter possessions for a 21-7 lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, Gulf made it 21-14 on a Madison Burr 85-yard punt return. Sunlake answered when Jamal Jones returned the kickoff 69 yards to set up Sunlake inside Gulf's 20.
Six plays later, Daniels scored again and Gulf did not threaten again.
