TALLAHASSEE - What a difference a week makes.
Unbeaten South Florida outmuscled Florida State 17-7 on Saturday, led by a ferocious pass rush and a redshirt freshman quarterback from Tallahassee in B.J. Daniels who was passed over by the Seminoles for another prospect two years ago.
Sunday, it was Florida State's turn to be ignored.
After being ranked 18th last week following a 54-28 victory at Brigham Young, the Seminoles (2-2) tumbled out of the latest AP Top 25 poll.
"They're good and they played good," Florida State coach Bobby Bowden said. "I can't see anybody overpowering them."
"They hit us as hard as we've been hit all year," Bowden said. "If we could've executed perfectly I think we could have won the game, but we didn't do it."
The Seminoles fumbled five times, losing four - all at critical times and couldn't get anything going that resembled a running attack.
The loss was the first time in Bowden's 34 seasons at FSU he's been beaten at home by a first-time foe. It came in front of FSU's first sellout of the season and its largest home crowd in four years.
Next up Saturday is host Boston College in the first of seven straight Atlantic Coast Conference games for the Noles.
