TAMPA - Set aside the schedule of Amtrak's northbound Silver Star from Miami to New York through Tampa and get to the station two hours early until Oct. 7.
The Silver Star is scheduled to leave Tampa at 3:17 p.m. rather than 5:17 p.m. to accommodate CSX Transportation track work.
The train is scheduled to arrive one hour earlier than usual at stations between Washington and New York.
Amtrak's northbound Silver Star has run on time 74.4 percent of the time in the past 12 months and 64.5 percent of the time in August, Amtrak reported.
Amtrak attributed 86 percent of those delays to train interference and operational and track and signal issues on the part of CSX, which owns the track on a portion of the Silver Star's route.
