CASSELBERRY - Police say a Seminole County mother strangled her toddler by using her hands and a bra.
Authorities said Tuesday that 22-year-old Nioshka Bello was arrested upon release from the hospital, where she had been involuntarily committed after a suicide attempt. Police say Bello swallowed as many as 20 Benadryl pills after killing 2-year-old daughter Janessa Sandoval on Saturday.
Mother and daughter were staying with Bello's mother and stepfather in an apartment. Police say Bello woke her mother early Saturday morning to tell her that the toddler was not breathing. Janessa was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A medical examiner ruled the death a homicide Sunday.
Bello was being held without bail at the Seminole County Jail in Sanford.
