NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police are looking for a newborn snatched from his mother's home in Tennessee by a woman posing as an immigration agent.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says police are interviewing a person of interest near Buffalo, N.Y., but the baby is not with her.

Bureau spokeswoman Kristin Helm says 30-year-old Lisa Sampson has not been taken into custody. Police started looking for her on a tip late Tuesday but haven't said how she's connected to the case.

Police say a woman showed up at Maria Gurrolla's home earlier that day and demanded she hand over the baby, named Yair Carillo.

Gurrolla was stabbed about eight times when she refused and is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on recovering from her injuries. It's not clear if she is an immigrant.
