GAINESVILLE - Former University of Florida football player Wondy Pierre-Louis was released from Alachua County Jail after posting bail of $40,000 early this morning.
He will now await the decision of State Attorney Bill Cervone on whether a case against him will be pursued after an investigation of an incident early Sunday involving Pierre-Louis and his girlfriend, Starlett Lazenberry.
Lazenberry told a judge Tuesday that a Gainesville police report incorrectly stated her comments. The report said she claimed Pierre-Louis choked and threatened her after breaking into her apartment.
Lazenberry, who told the judge the couple had been together three years, claims she had tried to call police to correct the statement.
Pierre-Louis turned himself in early Tuesday on an arrest warrant accusing him of kidnapping, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, unarmed burglary, and obstructing justice by tampering.
