Troopers are investigating an accident Saturday in Sumter County that killed four people when a truck hit two motorcycles head on.
The Florida Highway Patrol is trying to identify the two passengers on the motorcycles and has not identified the drivers because family members have not been notified.
A 1991 GMC truck driven by Paul Sermons of Bushnell was passing another truck on Sumter County Road 476 about 6:55 p.m. when Sermons hit the two Harley Davidson motorcycles that were heading in the opposite direction, the FHP said.
The report said Sermons, 45, tried to slow down when he realized the motorcycles were closer than he thought.
The impact threw one passenger onto the windshield of the truck Sermons was trying to pass, the FHP said.
Three of the motorcyclists died at the scene. The fourth was taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital and pronounced dead.
The driver of one motorcycle, a 2005 Harley Davidson, was 54 and from Stuart, the accident report said. The driver of the other, a 2003 Harley Davidson, was 55 and from Beverly Hills in Citrus County, the FHP said.
Sermons received minor injuries.
No charges have been filed but the accident is under investigation, the FHP said.
