Let Ybor City put you in the Halloween spirit with Guavaween, the annual party where the city welcomes Mama Guava and her costumed revelers.
Spend some quality family time during the day, or hang out with the grown-ups at night for the city's signature Halloween street party and music festival. The daylong event features trick-or-treating, spooky story time, a pumpkin giveaway, hands-on activities, appearances by Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders, a pet costume contest, a children's costume parade and contest, Mama Guava's Stumble Parade and live music.
Multiple entertainment stages include performances by MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Puddle of Mudd, Theory of a Deadman, Black Stone Cherry, Parlor Mob and Basic Rock Outfit. Between acts and wholesome family fun, nosh at any number of eateries in the historic district and catch up on your shopping.
To avoid parking hassles, shuttles are available at the Florida State Fairgrounds, Raymond James Stadium and the USF Sun Dome. They run from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Guavaween Family FunFest is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (admission is $5 until 2 p.m., $15 afterward); adult activities begin at 3 p.m. and go until 3 a.m., with the Mama Guava Stumble Parade starting at 8 p.m. Events occur throughout Ybor City.
