When CBS's "Big Brother" returns there will be a contestant from St. Petersburg in the mix.
Casey "DJ Mingle Mixxx" Turner, the oldest contestant at 41, is a self-proclaimed "hip-hop redneck," according to the official cast announcement from CBS.
The fifth-grade teacher from St. Pete moonlights as a disc jockey. He left behind his wife and two children - including a 9-month-old son - to participate in the show.
"I'm going to miss my family," says Turner. "It's been really hard for me just the couple of days I've been secluded here in the hotel, so I can imagine how I'm going to feel a month from now. I look forward to meeting some cool people. All of them will not be cool. I'm aware of that. All of them will not like my style. I'm aware of that, too."
He is one of 13 contestants on the 11th season of "BB" which begins July 9.
This summer's contestants also include a surfer, bikini model, "World of Warcraft" gamer, a neuroscientist, tae kwon do champion and fifth-grade teacher. Before meeting their competitors or entering the house, the cast were individually interviewed by The Associated Press while they were voluntarily sequestered - no television, newspapers or telephones - from the outside world.
They will be competing for $250,000 and running the risk of being embarrassed on national television as camera follow them 24/7.
The Big Brother 11 schedule will be Thursday at 8pm, Sunday at 8pm, and Tuesday at 9pm each week, with Big Brother: After Dark once again airing on Showtime 2. The Sunday show will have the nominations ceremony, the Tuesday show will have the veto competition and veto ceremony, and then each Thursday show will be the live eviction and head of household competitions.
