Attorney: Andrews 'hell-bent' to testify against stalker

Erin Andrews, the ESPN college football sideline reporter who grew up in Tampa, is "hell-bent" on testifying against the person responsible for posting nude video of her on the Internet, according to her attorney.

In an exclusive interview that aired today on "Good Morning America" Andrews' attorney Marshall Grossman said that at first "Erin was quite relieved with news of the arrest."

However after reviewing the arrest affidavit and the investigation by the FBI, her anxiety has increased, Grossman told Diane Sawyer.

He said she was concerned over the enormity of the alleged crime and the length that this individual under went "to stalk her and trap her and victimize her as he did" and then try to profit from it.

On Friday, authorities arrested Michael David Barrett, a 47-year-old divorced father and insurance company employee, on a charge of interstate stalking after secretly filming Andrews naked in her hotel room and then trying to sell the tape to celebrity Web site TMZ.com and posting them online.

Andrews, 31, issued a statement Saturday night after the arrest thanking FBI agents and federal prosecutors for their work and said she hoped the case will eventually help others.

An FBI affidavit said Barrett specifically asked for a room next to Andrews at a Tennessee hotel where seven videos were likely taken by a cell phone camera, apparently through an altered peephole. An eighth video may have been shot at a Milwaukee hotel.

Grossman said Andrews, who travels extensively for ESPN and stays in numerous hotels, was able to pinpoint the night that some of the videos were shot by a pair of jeans that were visible on the film.

"Erin is a remarkable young woman," Grossman said. "I have learned that women know what they have worn on each occasion." He said that with the help of her stylist and the FBI agents, Andrews viewed the videos and was able to determine the exact hotel room and the date.

"So through her work and her personal time she has been able to help the authorities and she will continue to work with them to bring this case to a conclusion," he added.

Conviction of this crime carries the possibility of a five-year prison term and a $250,000 fine. Grossman declined to say if Andrews is considering any legal action against the hotel chains where she stayed. He did say that she is "hell-bent" on testifying and she wants to work with national, state and local authorities to toughen the laws against this kind of stalking.

Andrews is the daughter of News Channel 8 investigative reporter Steve Andrews.

Andrews told Oprah Winfrey last month that when she saw the video, she thought it would spell the end of her career. He said she was screaming, "I'm done. My career is over. Get it off. ... Get if off the Internet." She has since returned to the sidelines for ESPN.
