The pitch: "Curly or straight, thick or thin, Twisted Sista's high-performance products can be used on all hair types to create everything from effortless, everyday styles to sophisticated and sleek hairdos."
The skinny: It's asking a lot of a product to be everything to all hair types.
Still, I was very excited about these de-frizzers, inspired by London's "modern multicultural women," because there's a lack of good products for curly hair. But when I used it, it fell flat - literally. I tested it in very different climates, in Tampa and Los Angeles, but in high and low humidity my curly-but-fine hair lost volume and gained frizz, accentuating the unfortunate development of triangle-head (you curly-haired girls know what I'm talking about).
My mom was glad that I didn't like the products because she got to take them home. They worked for her super-tight curls. She has hot-rolled her hair straight for more than 60 years and abhors humidity. When she came to visit from St. Louis and tried out the stuff, it kept her hair from re-curling in the sticky air.
So maybe the folks at Twisted Sista should take their claim down a notch. Their products work really well for some, just not all.
