A few weeks back, I included reader Judy Scott's request for the butterscotch pie served at the former Goody Goody restaurant on Florida Avenue.
Now, reader Sylvia Musalo writes to ask for the coconut cream pie from the same diner.
"It's my favorite," Sylvia writes.
We don't have that one in our archive yet. Maybe someone reading this can help.
Valencia dressing help
Susan Pryor of Tampa and Gail Decker have asked for a recipe to make the house salad dressing from Valencia Garden Restaurant.
A.K. Carpenter called last week saying she employed a maid for 50 years who also worked part time at Valencia Garden making salads.
"It was three ingredients," she told me. "You took a gallon of mayonnaise, added ketchup to the mix until it got to the right color and flavor, and then enough vinegar to make it smooth."
Sorry, Susan and Gail, but that's the best recipe I've heard so far. Which is perfectly fine, if you're looking to serve 200 customers for lunch. Feel free to experiment downsizing those three ingredients.
Hurry-up recipes
If you're looking for a quick recipe in the morning (the kids are back to school, after all), here's a recipe for a Microwave Coffee Cup Scramble that offers a quick batch of protein to get young brains churning. The recipe is courtesy of the National Egg Board.
