HANDS AND WRISTS: Helen Ellis Occupational Health Center, 2508 U.S. 19 N., Holiday, will have a free screening for hand and wrist problems, including carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis and compression syndrome, from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday. Appointments are required; call (727) 943-3600.

SPINAL MUSCULAR ATROPHY AWARENESS: The Greater Florida chapter of Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy will host a "Walk-n-Roll" event Nov. 7 at Fort Desoto Park Shelter 14, 3500 Pinellas Bayway S., Tierra Verde, beginning at 9 a.m. Teams, families and individuals are invited to walk, run or roll a one-mile course while enjoying the park. WALK WITH THE MAYOR: Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio invites you to join her at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at Rowlett Park for "Walking with the Mayor: Keeping Tampa Fit." The first 200 registrants at the free event will receive a free T-shirt. The mayor will walk four miles; participants may walk as much or as little as they like. HEALTH FAIR: South Florida Baptist Hospital will hold a health fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Park Square in FishHawk Ranch, 16144 Churchview Drive, Lithia. Activities will include health screenings, events for children, including a bike rodeo, moonwalk and magic show, and lessons in proper hand washing for children. HIKE FOR HOSPICE: The third annual Hike for Hospice, a 5K event featuring former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Mike Alstott, will be Nov. 8 at Wesley Chapel District Park, 7727 Boyette Road, Wesley Chapel. Registration begins at 7:30, and the hike begins at 9 a.m. It costs $25 and is free for children 10 and under. EPILEPSY ADVOCACY: Epilepsy Advocates' Take Charge Tour 2009 will be at the St. Petersburg Marriott Clearwater, 12600 Roosevelt Blvd., St. Petersburg, on Nov. 10. MEMORY SCREENING: Free memory screenings will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Rao Musunuru M.D. Senior Center, 12417 Clock Tower Parkway, Hudson. CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIATION: Morton Plant Mease Health Care will present a program on chemotherapy and radiation for patients at 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at Morton Plant Hospital Powell Cancer Center, 303 Pinellas St., Clearwater. Participants will learn about their teams of doctors and support teams, the difference between normal and cancer cells, four ways of treating cancer, and tips on coping with the treatments. NO MORE TOBACCO: The Tobacco Free Partnership of Polk County will hold a workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at Chain O'Lakes Civic Center, 210 Cypress Gardens Blvd., Winter Haven.
