The cover photo alone looks tempting enough to eat.

A basket filled with fruit and "other home-grown edible treasures" is nestled beside a carafe of orange juice on a sand dune along a sunny beach.

Inside the 182-page "Simply Florida" cookbook are 214 kitchen-tested recipes offering "a taste of flavors from the Sunshine State." Accompanying each recipe are a nutritional analysis, food safety tips and handy substitutions.

Chapters are devoted to "Flavorful Beef," "Tasty Pork, Poultry & More," "A Taste of the Seas," "A Bountiful Harvest of Nuts, Beans & Grains," "Delicious Dairy Dishes," "Sun-Ripened Fruits" and "Farm Fresh Vegetables."

The Florida Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is touting its hardcover fundraising project as a great holiday gift, and givers can have copies with personalized tags mailed to recipients.

Online orders cost $25 (major credit cards and personal checks accepted) at simplyflorida.org.

Copies also are on sale for $20 at the two Pasco County extension offices:

•Pasco County Fairgrounds, 36702 State Road 52, Dade City;

•West Pasco Government Center, Public Works/Utilities Building Room 109, 7530 Little Road, New Port Richey.

•Call (352) 521-4288; (727) 847-8177; (813) 996-7341, Ext. 4288 or 8177; or fax (352) 523-1921 or (727) 847-8179.

•Visit the Pasco Extension Web site at pasco.ifas.ufl.edu or access it through simply florida.org.

Proceeds from the cookbook will help fund the Mary Harrison Professorship and promote professional development opportunities for Family and Consumer Sciences agents across Florida.
