Party Themes For New Year's Eve

»  Comments | Post a Comment

If your New Year's Eve party is boring, there's a good chance your new year will be. We won't let that happen. Here are some ideas to get you started.

1. '08 In Reverse
Ring in '08 with an '80s party. Break out the Molly Ringwald outfit and the boombox. Serve up Reese's Pieces (E.T.-style). Have your guests try to guess the flavor of ice cream by the smell (like Chunk in "Goonies"). But remember, don't feed them after midnight -- you don't want gremlins on your hands, do you?

2. Use Your Thinking Cap
Top off 2007 with a hat party. Have your guests wear their favorite hats, or set up a station where people can make their own festive headgear from glitter, feathers, felt and other supplies. Place serving bowls in upside-down hats to dress up your food selection.

3. Sleep Late Into '08
Solve your drinking and driving dilemma by throwing a pajama party. Have your guests wear their best PJs. Put out the bedtime snacks (s'mores are always good), and watch the ball drop.

4. Coffee, Anyone?
Midnight is technically the morning, so why not have a breakfast party? Toast with mimosas (orange juice and champagne), and then pass the pancakes.

5. No Date For '08
For the single people out there: First pick a destination (check out our events list). Then invite all of your available friends, and ask them all to wear a specific color or something else that will make them stand out in a crowd. Have them pass along the invitation to their available friends, and so on. Then, when everyone arrives at the party, you'll know who is single, and you'll know that you all have friends in common.
