When her children's Hebrew school asked her to be their music teacher, Doni Zasloff Thomas felt like there wasn't much the children could identify with when it came to Hanukkah music. Her remedy: She decided to write her own songs that were fun to listen to and which focused on the traditions of the Festival of Lights.
The result is an album by her alter-ego Mama Doni titled 'Channukah Fever: 13 Macca-beats for the whole family!" During this interview, she talks about how such songs as 'Latke Man' and 'Funky Gold Menorah' came to be created.
