You can help young oncology patients get royal treatment

Here's a chance to help courageous kids who are battling cancer feel like kings and queens.

Queen for a Day, a nonprofit group that helps raise self-confidence and ease the physical and emotional distress of young cancer patients, is hosting its first fundraiser. Guests at the Cheers to You event will enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, music and a silent auction from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at Hunter's Green Country Club.

The money raised will help the Tampa chapter of Queen for a Day give deserving children much-needed pampering. The group hosts events where girls are treated like queens and boys become honorary firefighters.

"We're really looking forward to hosting our first event," said Leah Campanella, director of the Tampa chapter. "Not only will we raise money to keep children smiling, but we'll recognize heroes in the Tampa Bay area who continue to bring smiles to so many faces."

Tickets to the event are $40 and can be purchased at www.cheerstoyouevent.com or by calling Campanella at (727) 798-5600.
