The eternal question - "Where's an animal-friendly place I can take my pet this weekend?" - has been answered for this Sunday by local radio station WMNF, 88.5 FM.
The listener-supported station is hosting the second annual Talking Animals Fest at the Lowry Park band shell, which will feature local acts performing songs about animals as well as WMNF DJs spinning songs about animals between sets.
The event, which starts at 10 a.m., is free. More importantly for dog owners, dogs on leashes are welcome at the event. Bands taking the stage include Ronny Elliott, The Sandy Atkinson Band, Bird Street Players, Sons of Hippies, Lauris Vidal, Kelley McCrae, Rayzilla's PBS, Dog Peter Pat [Pete Gallagher and band], Tribal Style, The Sun Society, Damon Fowler, The Dirty Spoons & Trash Revue and Magadog.
There will be food, a raffle, animal art for sale and information about pet adoption. Parking is available in the Lowry Park Zoo parking lot off Sligh Avenue.
The event is inspired by the "Talking Animals" radio show aired on WMNF and hosted by Duncan Strauss. For information, go to www.talkinganimals.net.
