Alquan Garner and Eriberto Reyes were standing on line to get some food from a cart at 4021 W. Hillsborough Ave. early Saturday morning when someone cut in line, police say.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m., a fight broke out.
Then gunfire.
Reyes, 27, was shot twice in the abdomen. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment with life-threatening injuries.
Garner, 23, of 10914 Black Swan Court, Seffner, was even less fortunate.
After being shot, he drove off only to crash a short while later on N. Lois Avenue, just south of Hillsborough. He later died at St. Joseph's.
Neither man, say police, instigated the fight or was directly involved in the shooting.
Homicide detectives will likely release a description of the shooting suspect in the next day or so as they turn to the public seeking help finding him, said McMullen.
