MANATEE COUNTY - A 29-year-old woman, whose body was found Saturday afternoon in a wooded area, was beaten and killed, police said.
Carla Ann Beard, of Sarasota, was found at 4:39 p.m. near 50th Street in the Manatee County town of Holmes Beach, on Anna Maria Island, according a police department release.
Her partially clothed body apparently had been there for several days.
Police believe blunt trauma to the head was the cause of death. Police are investigating.
