TAMPA - Police charged a 23-year-old Tampa man with felony sexual battery Friday, saying he raped an intoxicated woman in Ybor City.
Robert Gomez-Jurado, 23, of 6840 Mitchell Circle, was being held without bail at Orient Road Jail.
Passers-by in the 1600 block of East Fifth Avenue called police about 3 a.m. Friday after hearing the woman screaming, "Stop!" and "Get off me!" from inside a sport utility vehicle, an arrest affidavit states.
According to the affidavit, people observed the woman, who "appeared to be very intoxicated and was having a hard time walking," with Gomez-Jurado, who escorted her into the back of his 1998 Dodge Durango.
People noticed movement in the vehicle and heard the woman screaming a short time later, the affidavit states.
