TAMPA - A Tampa man is being held without bail this morning after he struck his girlfriend on the head with an empty beer bottle, police records state.

Stephen Christopher Menendez, 19, of 4230 La Dega Court, was being held at Orient Road Jail. He is charged with felony aggravated battery and felony aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
According to an arrest affidavit, Menendez and his girlfriend of three months got into a fight about 10:48 p.m. Sunday at 4003 S. West Shore Blvd.
Menendez threw an empty beer bottle at the woman, striking her on the forehead and injuring her forehead and lip, the affidavit states. While attempting to leave the area, Menendez tried to run over his girlfriend and a security guard, the affidavit states.
Police arrested him about 30 minutes later near his home address, records show.
