SEMINOLE - Deputies have arrested a Pinellas County man after they say he physically abused his wife and tried to rob a gas station.
Robert Crane
At 6:10 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to lot No. 413 at the Holiday Village Mobile Home Park at 6580 Seminole Blvd. to investigate a domestic dispute. Investigators said the suspect, 42-year-old Robert Crane, had left the home in his blue 1993 Dodge van, and they sent a description of Crane and his vehicle to deputies in the area.
About 15 minutes later, a man matching Crane's description tried to rob the Site Gas Station at 9548 Bay Pines Blvd. in Seminole, the sheriff's office said in a written statement. Deputies say the man handed the clerk a paper bag and a note demanding cash, but the clerk was unable to open the cash register. The man tried to open it himself but was unsuccessful and took off, deputies say.
About an hour after the attempted robbery, deputies found Crane's van at a friend's home. They arrested him and charged him with domestic battery, false imprisonment, attempted robbery and resisting arrest without violence.
