Tampa Bay Area School Bus Stop Incidents

Here is a list of incidents that have occurred at school bus stops since January 2005.

Jan. 11, 2005 - A 15-year old girl is abducted and sexually assaulted near her bus stop on Osteen Road in New Port Richey.

Jan. 13, 2005 - In Tampa, a 45-year old husband and father of two daughters is caught at a bus stop at Indiana Street and Ola Avenue by another parent after he repeatedly stalked the man's daughter.

Jan. 24, 2005 - Police arrest a 39-year old man for stalking a teenager at her school bus stop near the Largo Southwest Recreation Complex.

Feb. 9, 2005 - A 13-year-old is struck by a car as she waited at her bus stop at Pine Street and Duplex Drive in Seffner.

Feb. 11, 2005 - An sports utility vehicle strikes and kills an 8-year-old girl after a relief school bus driver dropped her at the wrong corner, leaving her to cross a five-lane street in St. Petersburg.

March 1, 2005 - A 17-year-old Countryside High School student is struck by car as she walked to her bus stop on Curlew Road in Dunedin.

March 7, 2005 - A man accosts a 14-year-old girl as she walks to her bus stop on Chatford Drive and Moog Road in Holiday.

April 14, 2005 - A man armed with a gun sexually assaults a 17-year-old girl while she waits alone at her school bus stop at Texas Avenue and Fifth Street in Lakeland.

Aug. 11, 2005 - A 7-year-old Chasco Elementary School student is hit by a car after being dropped off at his bus stop at U.S. 19 and Sandra Drive in Port Richey.

Aug. 17, 2005 - Two Blake High School students are attacked after school and stabbed by two fellow students after getting dropped off at their bus stop at Estelle and Scott streets in Tampa.

Aug. 18, 2005 - A man attempts to abduct a 6-year-old girl from her bus stop near 23rd Avenue South and Seventh Street South in St. Petersburg.

Aug. 29, 2005 - A 15-year-old Wharton High School student is struck when she runs in front of a car as she attempts to catch her bus at North 40th Street and East Regnas Avenue in Tampa.

Oct. 10, 2005 - A truck strikes an 11-year-old girl and she suffers life-threatening injuries near her bus stop at Bert Street and Shady Drive in Hudson.

April 28, 2006 - A 14-year-old avoids being sexually assaulted as she walked to her bus stop in the area of Indian Rocks Road and Bluffs Drive in Indian Rocks Beach.

May 17, 2006 - Three teens are arrested after firing several shots from a handgun near a bus stop for Armwood High School students at 44th and Chelsea streets in Tampa.

May 19, 2006 - Two Saudi men are arrested after they board a school bus stop at Fletcher Avenue and 42nd Street in Tampa. The men are later cleared of any wrong doing.

Aug. 22, 2006 - A man in a white van attempts to abduct an 11-year-old girl after she leaves her bus stop near Dr. John Long Middle School in Wesley Chapel.

Oct. 2, 2006 - A 45-year old man is arrested for leaving the scene of an accident after striking a boy near his bus stop at Clydesdale Drive and Moog Road in Holiday.

Oct. 9, 2006 - A confrontation between a parent and business owner leads to a bus stop being moved from in front of the business because parents use the parking lot to pick up their children at Lake Shore Drive and U.S. 41 in Land O' Lakes.

Jan. 10, 2007 - A 7-year-old Lopez Elementary student is arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery after throwing a book bag at another student at his bus stop.

Aug. 21, 2007 - A 5-year-old Chasco Elementary School student is allowed to get off at the wrong bus stop on Glen Moor Lane in Port Richey.

Aug. 21, 2007 - An unlit bus stop at Neamathia Drive and Mikasuki Drive in Lakeland is the scene where a 12-year-old girl's legs are run over by a pickup as she sat on the curb waiting for the bus.

Aug. 27, 2007 - Parents protest the location of a Brandon bus stop because it requires students to cross busy Bell Shoals Road to get to it. The district moved the stop, but parents were still unhappy.

Aug. 31, 2007 - Two teenage sisters are chased from the Wharton High School bus stop at North 15th Street near 113th Avenue by a 41-year-old man. His motives were unclear.

Sept. 18, 2007 - Three middle school students were arrested and accused of bringing "acid bombs" and detonating one at a bus stop at Stanza Court and LeClaire Shores Drive in Odessa.

Sept. 18, 2007 - A Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy shoots and kills a dog that bit a teenager as she got off at her bus stop on Cocoa Beach Drive in Riverview.
