Missing Largo Alzheimer's Patient Found On Alligator Alley

LARGO - Florida Highway Patrol troopers found a missing 81-year-old man with Alzheimer's safe in his disabled car on Alligator Alley this morning.

Charles Whitney Oliphant, of 1150 8th Ave. S.W., was reported missing at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Largo Police Department.

About 9:30 a.m., troopers found Oliphant in his car in the eastbound lanes of Alligator Alley. Troopers believe the vehicle ran out of gas.

He was in good health and family members were going to South Florida to pick him up, Largo police said.
