No one was injured this morning in a fire that heavily damaged a home at 1600 13th St. S.

Crews from St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue were on the scene within three minutes of the call and found the front porch area and kitchen in flames, authorities said. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in 15 minutes.

The tenants had left to walk to the store and were not at home at the time of the 9:39 a.m. fire.

The wooden home didn't have electrical service or gas and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The home didn't have a working smoke alarm and losses were estimated at $40,000.

The American Red Cross was called to assist with the displacement of the tenants. No one was injured in the blaze.
