An Odessa woman was arrested on two counts of cruelty to animals after she left her dogs in a car during the heat of the day for at least 45 minutes, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Anita Harmon, 52, left her two dogs in her car while she did business at a finance center on Busch Boulevard around 6 p.m. Monday. A passerby noticed the dogs in the car and contacted officials.
The dogs were in the car at least 45 minutes or more but officials aren't certain of the exact time, said Hillsborough County Animal Services spokeswoman Marti Ryan.
One dog is a 9-year-old cocker spaniel named Einstein. The second dog is a Cavalier King Charles, but officials didn't have a name or age of the dog.
The dogs are in stable but guarded condition and remain under medical care, Ryan said.
Harmon was released Monday from Orient Road Jail after posting $4,000 bail, jail records show.
