One lane of Franklin Street will be closed today between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for construction of the TECO Line Streetcar System's extension to Whiting Street.
The easternmost, southbound lane of Franklin Street, from Whiting Street to Brorein Street, will be closed.
Southbound traffic will be maintained in one lane.
Vehicles approaching Brorein will be able to continue south or take a right run and travel west.
Cumberland Avenue access to the Fort Brooke Garage will be maintained.
The existing 2.4-mile system links Ybor City with downtown Tampa and terminates at Dick Greco Plaza near the Tampa Convention Center.
The extension will reach Whiting Street at the south end of downtown.
