Cruise Passengers To Receive Fuel Charge Refund

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Cruise passengers who were slapped with a fuel surcharge after booking their trips will receive a refund, thanks to a settlement reached between the Florida Attorney General and two cruise lines.

It's the latest agreement stemming from an investigation by the state agency, which received hundreds of complaints when several cruise lines added fuel surcharges after customers made trip deposits. Attorney General Bill McCollum has said passengers have a right to know the full cost of their trip upfront.

The settlement announced Wednesday involves Oceania Cruises, which will pay more than $2.1 million in reimbursements, and Classic Cruises Holdings, which will return more than $1 million. The companies will contact customers eligible for the refund.
