A 24-year-old motorcyclist died Friday after a crash in Clearwater involving a sport-utility vehicle, troopers said.
Jock Gray Chepren was traveling north in the outside lane of North McMullen Booth Road about 7 p.m. when a southbound sport-utility vehicle made a left turn on a green light in front of him at Union Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
To avoid a collision, Chepren overturned his 2001 Suzuki motorcycle and slid down the roadway, troopers said.
He slid under the sport-utility vehicle and received critical injuries. He died later at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, troopers said.
Chepren had been wearing a helmet, troopers said.
The driver of the sport-utility vehicle, James Edward Dorsett, 58, of Tarpon Springs, and his passenger, Brenda Dorsett, 58, of Tarpon Springs, were treated for minor injuries and released, the highway patrol said.
No charges were immediately filed as the crash remains under investigation.
