A driver in a two-car collision intentionally struck the other vehicle's occupants while attempting to flee the scene, Tampa police said.
The driver, Rita Adams, 48, of Clearwater, was arrested about 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Adams initially rear-ended a vehicle with her 2009 Toyota at Channelside Drive and Harbor Street, and no one was injured, police said. She then hit the other car's occupants, who were outside their vehicle, police said. They suffered minor injuries.
Adams tried running from the scene, but was arrested at Adamo Drive and 17th Street, according to an arrest report.
Adams was charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and knowingly driving with a suspended license.
She remains in Orient Road Jail. Her bail was set at $8,000.
