Cops: Customer who can't return items to Wal-Mart sets store on fire

A man irate that he couldn't return some items from a Bradenton Wal-Mart set the store on fire today, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

According to the sheriff's office, 41-year-old Phillip R. Wright tried unsuccessfully this afternoon to return several items from the Wal-Mart on 53rd Avenue. The sheriff's office hasn't said why he wasn't able to return the items, but the office says Wright got mad an set three clothes racks ablaze.

The sheriff's office says no one was injured in the fire, but the store received "substantial'' damage.

Wright left the store in a tan pickup, according to the sheriff's office,and other Wal-Mart stores were given his description. At about 6:15 p.m., Wright entered a store on Lockwood Ridge in southern Manatee. Deputies were notified and Wright was arrested.

Wright, of Monroe, La., was charged with arson.
