St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a puppy trapped in a drainage pipe around 1 p.m.
According to a St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue release:
Jerri Davis of St. Petersburg told firefighters that one of her children opened the door to the house and her three-month-old Chow named Gucci ran out.
Gucci ran across the street into a drainage ditch. He was stuck inside.
Davis and her children tried for 30 minutes to coax Gucci out, but were unsuccessful. They decided to call 911 for help.
The rescue team strategized how to get the dog out without causing it any harm. They filled a water hose with air and pushed the hose through the pipe, which motivated Gucci to come out the other end.
Firefighters were able to grab Gucci and reunite him with his family.
