Former Florida House Speaker Ray Sansom wants lawmakers to delay his ethics case until criminal charges against him are resolved.
A lawyer for the Destin Republican is set to make that argument Thursday before the House Select Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.
Sansom's trial on a perjury charge already is on hold while prosecutors appeal a judge's decision to dismiss an official misconduct charge.
The ethics complaint and criminal charges stemmed from $6 million Sansom steered to Northwest Florida State College for an airport hangar allegedly for use by a Sansom friend. The school then gave Sansom a $110,000 job.
