Investigators are looking into three suspicious fires that broke out early this morning in St. Petersburg and at least two appear connected.
Two vehicle fires that happened four blocks and about 45 minutes apart were arson and the incidents are likely related, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said.
In addition, another suspicious fire damaged a vacant house this morning. Fire officials do not believe the house fire is connected to the vehicle fires.
Firefighters were called to the first vehicle fire at about 5 a.m. and found a car on fire in an alley at 1225 11th St. N. The fire spread to a detached two-car garage. The vehicle was too badly damaged to determine its make, the fire department said.
The second call came at 5:45 a.m. for a vehicle on fire at 1121 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. St. in the parking lot of Joseph's Auction Gallery. The found a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck on fire but could not determine the year.
Earlier this morning, firefighters were called to 3417 19th Ave. S. at 2:53 a.m. where they found the front porch of a house on fire.
The house was vacant and had no electricity, the fire department said. Investigators believe the fire was suspicious.
The fire caused about $25,000 in damage to the 875 square-foot house, the department said.
