A Pasco County teen was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 301 when an oncoming vehicle crossed the road's center line and smashed into the victim's pick-up truck Saturday.
The collision also left the driver of the truck with serious injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver of the sports utility vehicle that crossed into the wrong lane had only minor injuries.
Sarah Rodriguez, 19, of Wesley Chapel was killed, the accident report said.
Larry Hampton II, 41, of Dade City was driving north on U.S. 301 near Ranch Road when his 2002 Chevrolet Suburban crossed into the southbound lanes about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the FHP said.
Hampton's vehicle ran head on into the 2001 Dodge Ram driven by Andre Pray, 21, also of Wesley Chapel. After the collision, the pick-up spun off the pavement and flipped, the FHP said.
Investigators are still checking whether alcohol played a role. No charges have been filed while the investigation continues.
The accident report said Rodriguez was not wearing a seatbelt.
