For the second year in a row, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Mike Alstott, his wife Nicole, and three kids - Hannah, Lexie and Griffin - have given out Thanksgiving meals to St. Petersburg firefighters.
Today, the family visited every fire station in the city, delivering turkeys, stuffing and all the fixin's.
Alstott says he wants to thank the everyday heroes for what they do on a daily basis.
"You know, firefighters do a lot for the community and get unrecognized and obviously have to be away from their families," Alstott said. "Some of the crews at each station have to be away from their families on Thanksgiving."
The Alstott family visited Station 11 at 5150 31st Street S. shortly after 8:30 a.m.
Firefighter Jake Soloman drives an engine at the station and is also one of the station's cooks. He says Alstott's visit is definitely appreciated.
"He took the time out of his day," Soloman said. "And he's a very busy person with all the foundations he has and all the things he does in the community as well."
The family delivered meals to 12 St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue stations citywide.
