There's no doubt it's busy at Tampa International Airport. Airport officials expect 28,000 incoming passengers and about the same number of outgoing passengers.
But that figure represents a 10 percent drop from last year as the economy forces people to cut back on spending and as airlines have reduced their capacity in an effort to fill planes and make a profit.
One hassle travelers are not having to contend with this year at the airport is lack of parking. The Aviation Authority has opened the "phase 2" economy garage.
This is the first time since the Super Bowl that the lot has been opened to customers. The $9 daily rate is much cheaper than parking at the terminal.
Another change from years past: The second-floor ticketing area is not particularly busy. Airport officials attribute the change to people going online from home and printing their boarding passes, then going right to the gate.
While Thanksgiving is a busy holiday, the busy days come in waves. After today, the next really busy day should be Sunday.
