A 35-year-old Tampa man has been arrested after having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, Tampa police say.
Berry L. Warren was arrested 2:15 p.m. today on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery.
Warren met the girl in April after she approached him at a meat market, Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said. On Aug. 5, McElroy said, the girl was charged with aggravated battery after attacking Warren's new girlfriend, who is 47. The teenager slashed the new girlfriend's shirt with a box cutter and also slashed the woman's tires, McElroy said.
"We are called out to the scene, and it comes out that she was involved with him and had intercourse," McElroy said. "Because of her age, she was not able to consent."
The girl's criminal case is pending.
The state attorney's office filed a charge against Warren. An arrest warrant was issued.
Hillsborough deputies say that after two days, they found Warrant in a hotel on North Nebraska Avenue. He was arrested without incident.
