Gov. Charlie Crist, who is expected to call for a special legislative session soon on the Seminoles gambling compact, said lawmakers may add some additional topics to the session agenda.
"Possibly energy, the compact -- there may be a few others, those are the only ones I've heard about so far," Crist said.
Does "energy" mean oil drilling? "Possibly," Crist said, adding that he might want to see it on the agenda, too.
Anything else? Maybe tax cuts, he said.
He later elaborated about the oil drilling possibility, saying, "obviously it would have to be something that would be introduced by the Legislature; they sort-of have first-base authority if you will, as it regards that. But I think it dovetails off some of the discussion that we heard at the end of the session ... which was, at the time, I thought, a little hasty."
Crist was alluding to a late-hour proposal that emerged last spring to lift the state ban on oil drilling in Florida waters. The proposal passed the House but died in the Senate, where it never received a vote.
Crist said he isn't sure yet exactly when he'll call for a special session but said that ongoing talk about having it in October sounds "prudent."
