All northbound lanes of Interstate 75 south of Fletcher Avenue were open at 6 p.m. Sunday after two morning accidents.

The accidents caused four injuries, including one person who was listed in critical, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The four people injured were taken to Tampa General Hospital.

The accidents involved a car, semi-tractor trailer and truck towing a fifth-wheel recreational vehicle.

The accident was reported at 10:47 a.m. and troopers arrived on the scene at 10:54 a.m., the FHP Web site says.

FHP confirmed late Sunday night there were two separate accidents in the same general location. However, the agency had a report on only one of the accidents.

Samuel Everts, the driver of a Ford F-250, was heading north on I-75 in the far right lane. Everts lost control of his truck and swerved. Then the truck and trailer began to rotate clockwise across the right lane and entered the exit lane for Fletcher Avenue, FHP said.

The left front of Everts' vehicle struck the metal guardrail and the left side of the trailer also struck the guardrail. The truck and trailer went into a ditch, FHP said.

Everts, 52, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. His passenger, Dorothy Everts, 55, was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition, FHP said. They are both from Sarasota.
Both were wearing seatbelts.

The truck sustained $11,000 worth of damage.
