Most of us report to a ho-hum office for work.
On Monday, Anthony "Sully" Sullivan reported to Clearwater for an entirely different day of work.
Sullivan is the new spokesman for Mighty Brands and replacement for Billy Mays, the nationally known infomercial spokesman who was found dead in June in his South Tampa town home.
Like Mays, Sullivan is ever the pitchman. For the latest promotion, he dressed in a wetsuit fitted with 20 to 25 blocks of Mighty Thirsty, described as "a super absorbent PVA vacuum block.''
Sullivan was then hooked up to a parasail towed by a boat and dropped into the Gulf of Mexico to determine how much water the blocks could absorb. Cameras recorded the action for the latest infomercial.
For the record, the blocks soaked up five gallons of water, said Erica Meloni, project manager for Media Enterprises.
Mighty Thirsty, which will be available through infomercials and online next month, can be used to soak up spills and clean vehicles, Meloni said.
She said this is the second item Sullivan has promoted for Mighty Brand since becoming its official spokesman. In December, he promoted Mighty Fix It, an adhesive used to fix electrical wire and seal leaky pipes and car hoses.
Sullivan has the experience and knowledge that complements Mighty Brand products, she said. He has been a producer and filmed product commercials and infomercials for his company, Sullivan Production, Meloni said.
"It has been a great transition,' Meloni said. "Sully is a true professional. He brings a lot to the table."
