Clearwater police release new information on the deadly collision between a bicycle and a pedestrian on the Memorial Causeway Bridge late Sunday night.
Two bicyclists, one on the seat and one on the handlebars, were riding fast as they headed west down the bridge's walkway and struck Dean Bartolo, who was walking east, said Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for the Clearwater Police Department.
The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m.
Bartolo, 39, of 1011 Jones St., Clearwater, suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the names or ages of the two people on the bicycle. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment, Watts said.
The investigation continues.
