Dwayne Callaway, the brother of police slaying suspect Dontae Morris, was ordered held without bail on two probation violation cases involving Callaway's girlfriend.
The cases stem from January and March, and in each case Callaway failed to show up for a probation hearing.
In addition Callaway faces firearm possession and drug charges after he and his cousin Alaina Riggins were arrested at the Motel 6 on East Fowler Avenue on July 3.
After the hearing before Judge Nick Nararetian, Callaway's attorney, James Mancuso, said it was not unusual for a defendant accused of probation violation to be held without bail.
Callaway's father, Dwayne Sr., expressed frustration at the hearing.
Mancuso said it will be difficult to prove that the gun and drugs found in the motel room belonged to either cousin.
As for a police report that stated Callaway provided refuge for his brother, Mancuso said "I would like to see some proof. He hasn't been charged."
Mancuso also will appear with Riggins' mother, Carolyn Riggins, who is a customer service representative with the Tampa Police Department.
Carolyn Riggins, who is the aunt of Callaway and Morris, was suspended last week without pay because she failed to tell police officials her daughter was in contact with Callaway and knew Morris.
Mancuso said he will appear with her at an employment hearing scheduled later this week.
"There is no proof that Alaina Riggins knew where Morris was, so there is no proof that Carolyn Riggins knew that her daughter knew," he said.
If Riggins is reinstated, Mancuso said he plans to ask for back pay.
