The Tampa bomb squad has detonated a suspicious bag that was found on a St. Petersburg College campus earlier today, Clearwater police say. Authorities are trying to determine what was in the bag and where it came from.
A campus security guard found the bag in a parking lot on the Clearwater campus at 2465 Drew St., and when he opened the bag, he saw a device with a red flashing light inside, police said. He then left the bag where it was, and contacted police.
Two buildings on the west side of campus were evacuated, but now people have been allowed to re-enter, Clearwater police spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said.
