Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting early this morning in which a man shot another man while trying to intervene in a couple's argument.
The shooting occurred about 3 a.m. at 2028 E. Seventh Ave., the Tampa Police Department said.
Police said Eduardo Castillo, 26, was arguing with a woman and hitting her. When people tried to intervene, Castillo threatened them, police said.
Castillo came up to Willie Jones, 24, still threatening Jones and reaching into his waistband, police said. Jones pulled a pistol and shot Castillo in the chest, killing him, police said.
Jones has a concealed weapons permit, the police department said.
No charges have been filed, though homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
