A married couple and their friend died Thursday night in a two-vehicle accident at North 34th and East Chelsea streets, Tampa police said.
The crash occurred at 8:41 p.m. as the blue 1995 Buick was traveling east on Chelsea and the white 2008 Dodge Charger was traveling south on 34th Street.
Three people in the Buick died, police said. A 67-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, who was a friend of the couple, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A 46-year-old woman, who was the man's wife, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where she died, police said.
There were three people in the Dodge Charger, the 20-year-old driver and two passengers, ages 30 and 22. The driver was taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police haven't released the names of the victims. The incident remains under investigation.
