Florida transportation officials say they expect the French national railway to fully disclose information about its role in the transportation of Jews to Nazi death camps during World War II.
Nazih Haddad, chief operating officer of Florida Rail Enterprise, said at a forum in Orlando this evening that officials with the French company have said they're willing to open their records to the state and welcome full disclosure.
Haddad was responding to Florida resident Rosette Goldstein, who has criticized the French railway for its role in the Holocaust.
Officials for the railway - Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Francais - have argued that the company had no control over operations when France was under Nazi occupation.
About 30 companies are hoping to bid for the Florida contract.
